Golf club description

Three superb, 18-hole championship courses
For those who dream of playing golf on beautiful, top quality courses in an ideal, year-round climate, La Manga Club is the perfect golf destination. La Manga Club has always been synonymous with golf and, with its three championship courses and outstanding practice facilities, it is perhaps hardly surprising that it has been voted Europe's top golf resort three times in the past four years*. The resort has also recently been chosen as the official winter training base of the German PGA in Spain. Many international tournaments have been hosted at La Manga Club, including the Spanish Open, Spanish PGA Championships, Spanish Junior Championships, Ladies' Spanish Open and Senior Spanish Open for men, not to mention countless televised corporate and celebrity golf events.
Location

La Manga Club is located in a unique setting amid the rolling hills that separate the crystalline Mediterranean from the warm waters of the Mar Menor Sea in Murcia, southern Spain. Lying to the south of the Costa Blanca, this region is known as the Costa Cálida, or 'warm coast', thanks to its mild, year-round Mediterranean climate. One of the Costa Cálida's biggest attractions is the resort itself. The beautifully landscaped 1400-acre resort is home to three of Europe's finest golf courses, a 28-court Tennis Centre, eight-pitch Professional Football Centre, a luxury Spa and Fitness Centre, swimming pools and elegant residential developments, as well as the Hyatt Regency La Manga hotel, holiday apartments, villas and a vast array of restaurants, bars, shops and services, all tastefully laid out amid palms, pine trees, lemon groves and oleander-lined streets.

The Championship course at La Manga Club, the South, is probably one of the fairest tests of golf one can find. At 6,499 metres from the White Tees, whilst being accepted as a top-calibre championship course, also provides a thorough test both for the scratch player and right across the handicap range. Located in the centre of the valley, with wide palm-fringed fairways and water hazards that come into play on 15 of the 18 holes, the South Course holds few hidden dangers. The many strategically positioned water hazards and bunkers will certainly punish any wayward shots. The front nine are particularly tough, with two par 3's over 200 metres and some daunting par 4's which will demand accurate driving between lakes and bunkers, requiring long irons or fairway woods to the green. The back nine, although shorter, has a number of intriguing dog-leg holes. Special attention should be given to both the 11th and 12th holes, which demand precise club selection to greens across water.
