Property description

Two cottages with pool in classical French manor-house setting
Rocreuse Cottages are approached by a fine courtyard in the French classical tradition enclosed on four sides by handsome buildings -- aristocratic-type stables to one side , imposing 'maison de maitre' (country manor house) to the other , cottages & gardens ahead. The property is approached by a tree-lined drive & you enter the courtyard by a fine archway ; pass throught the archway on the other side and you have the garden-area for the cottages & the pool which are not overlooked. The pool is large --- 13 metres by 6.5 m -- & surrounded by terraces & trees. There is also a fence to protect children from falling into the pool. Tables chairs & sunbeds on the pool terraces make this area beyond the courtyard pleasant peaceful in which to relax in sun or shade. The cottages are modernised with much attention to detail & quality without losing their traditional character. The property is well away from the road & surrounded by lovely rolling countryside with pretty villages.

NotesThe Canal du Midi, lovely for boating, walking & cycling is just down the road -- so is Bram with its shops & market, while the walled city of Carcassonne is only 20 mins drive. This is wine-producing country with lots of places for 'degustation' (wine - tasting) as well as fine restaurants. Driving & walking are equally a pleasure with pretty villages, castles, abbeys & romanesque churches to visit. There arts festivals & village fetes in which one can join, pageants & fun-activities for children -- but many of our visitors are content to relax by the pool when they're not playing golf or other sports...........
Golf details

Nearest golf course is Carcassonne, a 20 minutes pleasant drive. Within an hours drive are at least five more near Toulouse & Castres & within the Ariége (Serrou) . Given that driving on these quiet country roads is still a pleasure , it is feasible to take in several more within a two hours drive and combine this with visiting some lovely paces in other regions --- like Albi with its fine cathedral & Toulouse-Lautrec museum not to mention the Gaillac vineyards...........like Narbonne & the courses on the Mediterranean coast.............and Perpignan with its proximity to the Salvador Dali museum, Collieure with its painters' fame and the Spanish border.......
