16th century watermill in the heart of the Basque country nr Biarritz
Beautiful 4 bedroom watermill built in 1550 set in 5 acres of riverside gardens. The property has been newly refurbished. There are 3 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom all overlooking the river and surrounding countryside. Bathroom and WC on 1st floor. Newly fitted, well-equipped kitchen. Large living/dining room with open fireplace. Downstairs shower room and WC, laundry with washer/dryer. There is a large shaded terrace where the river flows below, perfect for al fresco dining and aperitifs. The terrace leads out onto a long island garden with sandy river banks perfect for picnics. Although situated in a wonderfully peaceful location, just outside La Bastide Clairence, voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, the mill is only a 30 minute drive from the beautiful seaside resort of Biarritz. Also nearby are Pau, St. Jean de Luz, St. Jean Pied de Port, San Sebastian and Bilbao. Biarritz airport is 25 minutes away and Pau is 40 minutes away.

La Bastide Clairence is a beautiful Basque village just 5 minutes from the larger town of Hasparren. The mill is situated in a small hamlet just outside the village of La Bastide Clairence. Just 10 minutes off the A64 motorway and 30 minutes' drive from the centre of Biarritz. Ryanair fly to both Biarritz and Pau airports and Easyjet fly to Bilbao, Bordeaux and Toulouse. The beautiful Basque villages of Cambo les Bains, Espelette, Ainhoa, and also Sauveterre and Salies de Bearn are just a short drive away.
