Property description

Rustic restored watermill in the heart of the Burgundy countryside
The Moulin De L’Homont is a restored, rustic watermill situated in the heart of Southern Burgundy. Peacefully set amongst the French countryside over a flowing river, the Mill can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 8 in spacious bedrooms with a modern kitchen, underfloor heating, exposed stone work, wood burning fire and many original features from its prior working days. Outside is a balcony overlooking the river and also a sheltered terrace with a stone pizza oven and bricked barbeque. Just 15mins away by car is a filtered swimming lake with man-made beach, picnic tables, toilets and showers. Well positioned close to 4 main airports (Dijon 1hr, Lyon 1hr 15mins, Geneva and Grenoble 2hrs) and 6 hours drive from Calais, the Mill is set between the mountains, lakes and waterfalls of the stunning Jura region on the one side and one of the powerhouses of French winemaking, Burgundy’s Côte D’Or, on the other. NotesWine • Burgundy’s wine region, arguably one of the most influential in the world, stretches south from Dijon towards Lyon taking in the many wine making villages of the Côte D’Or, Côte Chalonnaise, Côte Maconnaise and Beaujolais wines. All the villages, as well as many of the chateaux’s themselves, are easily accessible by car or by local expert led wine tours. For wine lovers a trip to Burgundy would not be the same without a visit to Chablis, Meursault, Vosne-Romanée, Corton or the Montrachet villages. Activities • Lyon, Dijon, Chalon-Sur-Saône, Autun, Cluny, Tournus and Beaune are all steeped in history and local architecture and make for interesting visits • For the more energetic there are the Jura Mountains which provide a beautiful setting for walking, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, cross country skiing, climbing, fishing, swimming and sailing. • Cycling & rollerblading is possible along the 100kms of dedicated greenways, named Voies Vertes.
