Property description

Converted Farmhouse in the Luberon National Park
Mas Pomona is perfectly situated for playing golf in Provence. Located only 7 kms from the motorway it means that courses in Aix en Provence and Avignon are easily accessible. It is possible to arrange itineraries and tee times in advance for clients, reductions are available for groups of 10 or more, though green fees are not nearly so high as the nearby Cote d’Azur and the courses not so crowded. For non playing partners there are many things to see and do in the region; museums, art galleries, roman ruins, the famous hill villages of the Luberon and countless excellent restaurants. However if you just wish to chill out, a day by the pool at Mas Pomona is a peaceful and relaxing experience. Take a look at the remainder of the site to see our facilities.

Golf details

Pont Royal (15mins) The jewel in the crown of Provence. A splendid layout with some very interesting features. The signature hole is the par 3 11th. A tee shot across a yawning chasm to a small green, anything from a 5 iron to a driver, if the Mistral is stirring. The second shot at the 7th green has the Luberon mountain range as a backdrop. As you would expect all facilities are first rate. The Provence Country Club (25 mins) A very pretty course, played over a small hill through pine trees beneath the ancient village of Saumane. It has undergone extensive refurbishment over the past couple of years. Wonderful views of the north side of the Luberon from the top of the course. Grand Avignon (25mins) A well established parkland course, beautifully kept with an excellent restaurant. A truly memorable golf course and driving range, into a lake at the front of the club house. Mont Ventoux, a 24km climb in the Tour de France, can be seen from around the course. Golf de Sainte Victoire (40mins) A lovely course with undulating lush fairways and an old chateau for a club house. The course is dominated by views of Mont St Victoire, painted over 50 times by Cezanne. The 8th and 18th are most memorable as their greens are protected by the same long narrow lake. The former is a par 5, reachable in 2 shots, but not for the faint hearted. Servannes (40 mins) Surrounded by limestone cliffs, almost a lunar landscape, the course snakes below the Alpilles mountains with huge eucalyptus trees dotted around the layout. The clubhouse boasts a good inexpensive restaurant. Les Baux de Provence (45mins) An absolutely charming 9 hole course. Played through olive groves and vineyards, overlooked by the ancient citadel of Les Baux on towering limestone cliffs, it is a truly memorable golfing experience. In many ways a personal favourite, the light, the aromas and the scenery all add to this truly Provencal experience. Chateaublanc (30 mins) South east of Avignon a gentle layout with a number of water hazards, white stone walls and structures just to complicate matters. A good inexpensive restaurant. Good facilities. Golf de Nimes (60 mins) A beautiful undulating parkland layout, a magnificent chateau for a clubhouse and very convenient for anyone flying Ryanair to Nimes as the course is only some 10 minutes away Excellent facilites. For those wishing to drive for one hours plus there are further courses to be found. One of the most famous is Barbaroux (90 mins) designed by Pete Dye and including one or two railway sleepers. There are several others good layouts, contact us for further information. Good golfing “ If you shoot more than 80 on the golf course you have no business being there. If you shoot under 80 you have no business” J Boros
