Beautiful sandy beaches are within 40-50 minutes drive of the gite, with the nearest being at la faute sur mer. Venture further up the coast and you may be able to catch the start of the world famous 'Vendée Globe' round the world yacht race at Les Sables-d'Olonne. With the cities of La Rochelle and Nantes within easy reach and the Natural site of 'Marais Poitvin' just down the road there is plenty for the more discerning visitor to discover. 5 Golf courses nearby: Golf de La Domangère La Roche sur Yon, 85310 Nesmy Golf des Fontenelles Route de Coëx, 85220 L'Aiguillon-Sur-Vie Golf des Olonnes 85340 Olonne-Sur-Mer Golf de Port-Bourgenay 85440 Talmont-Saint-Hilaire Golf de Saint Jean de Monts Avenue des Pays de la Loire, 85160 Saint-Jean-de-Monts Les Fontenelles Golf Course is close to Saint-Jean-de-Monts, and is course is a fine addiction to a great itinerary through the historical province of La Vendee. Not far from the seaside resort of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, architect Yves Bureau has as usual, designed a very neat golf course for all golfers. With undulating countryside lined with oak trees and maritime pines. Stretches of water enhance a layout that is free of hidden traps lured to all types of golfer. Visually the course also blends in well with the regions marshlands. The Golf des Olonnes is exceptionnally well located with a panoramic view. It is situated only 3 km from Les Sables d'Olonne, the famous seaside resort. It was created in the natural setting of the Vendée bocage. It extends over a slightly hilly site with beautiful stretches of water. This site is attractive, reasonable and suitable for golfers of all handicaps. Golf of Saint Jean de Mont. Styled on traditional Scottish links golf, this course provides plenty of variety and, with its sandy sub-soil, can be played all year round. The early holes wind through a natural pine forest and the latter part takes you close to the beach with views over the ocean and the island of Yeu. Port Bourgenay golf course is located on the seaside. It is 6,392 yard, enclosed by a forest which borders part of the course giving it an American style feel. The 15, 16 and 17 run right down towards the marina offering more of a links experience. This course really does provide two different, enjoyable experiences.
