Par 5 10th Hole

A recent course re-alignment under the supervision of renowned architect, Eddie Connaughton has increased the par to 73 and the links from the championship tees measures some 6,854 yards in old money. Much thought went into the modification of the famous course and it was deemed of the utmost importance that the classic character of the old layout should infuse the new. The best features of the old course (such as the old holes around the turn) have been left untouched, while two of the weaker par three holes have been replaced with both a mischievous dog-leg par four to a new raised green and a winding par five to one of the prettiest and well-protected greens that you will have the pleasure to encounter. A new par three has been added to the back nine and it will test the best of golfers who try to find the tiered putting surface in one blow. The jewels in the crown are the new pair of snaking par fives that will beguile the enthusiast on the homeward journey.

Par 5 10th Hole

Golf club description
18 Hole Links
Narin and Portnoo Golf Club is situated in a beautiful seaside resort in southwest Donegal, 6 miles from Glenties. It is considered one of the most scenic 18-hole links courses in Ireland, with sweeping views of Gweebarra Bay. A previous layout (designed by Harry Hamill of Royal Portrush) on much of the site of the current club opened in 1905 but had ceased to exist by 1914. Launched officially in July 1930, the course sends one on a meandering adventure over and around the dunes. A recent course development has lengthened the par to 73 and has increased the range of shots required to negotiate the terrain. A warm friendly welcome awaits visitors and societies to Narin and Portnoo Golf Club and it is ideal for year-round golf.
