Property description

Traditional Stone House with Beautiful Views, South of Rome
La Casa Svedese is situated in the small hamlet of Moretto, two miles below Piglio – famous for its Cesanese wine. The house is set in a mountain-side, wild garden of olive and almond trees, near the foot of Mount Scalambra, with beautiful sweeping views. It is only 10 minutes from the Rome-Naples A1 motorway, 45 minutes drive from the Rome circular (GRA) and 90 minutes from Naples. Nearby towns include Anagni, "Città dei Papi," and the spa town of Fiuggi. Activities in the area include golf, skiing, cycling, walking and horse riding. Fiuggi Golf Course is approximately 15 minutes drive away. Green fees are 40 euros/day. The club has an open-air swimming pool and tennis courts and the clubhouse has a bar and restaurant. It is one of the oldest golf courses in Italy, having been developed in 1928. It offers to those keen on golf a magnificent 18-hole course (5884 meters, par 70) set at 621 meters above sea level in a wonderful natural park that dominates the countryside.
Location

Piglio (near)
Although not the best-known of tourist areas in Italy, Lazio has lots to offer. Based in La Casa Svedese, you can get to Rome in an hour, but also go south to Pompeii and/or Mount Vesuvius for a day-trip, or west to the beach. The nearest places of interest to La Casa Svedese (which is in the Ciociaria region) are Anagni, Alatri and Ferentino - famous for its imposing walls. From here you can follow the religious itinerary among the ancient abbeys of Subiaco, Casamari and Fossanova. East of Rome is Tivoli with Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana) and the Renaissance Villa D’Este. Lazio’s coastline has long golden beaches. Our preferred beach is just north of Sabaudia as it is within the Circeo National Park and therefore not built up (there are only a couple of restaurants/bars). Interesting places to visit on the coast, where there are also beaches, are Terracina, Sperlonga and Gaeta.
Nearest beach:
Sabaudia at 90 kilometres
Nearest airport:
Rome Ciampino at 70 kilometres
Nearest railway station:
Anagn-Fiuggi at 10 kilometres

NotesLarge southwards facing terrace, with a beautiful panoramic views across the vineyards towards the medieval towns of Anagni and Paliano. Hillside garden - approximately 1000m2 - containing olive trees, almond trees and oleander bushes. The coast (Sperlonga, Sabaudia, Terracina) is approximately an hour and a half drive away. A rental car is almost essential for sightseeing and shopping. However, there are buses from outside the house to Rome, Piglio and Fiuggi. Anagni-Fiuggi train station is 15 minutes by car. The train service to Roma Termini (Central station) is quite frequent (every hour or so) and takes 50 minutes. It costs a mere 9 euros for a ticket incorporating the Rome Metro and buses. The house is 10 minutes from the main Rome-Naples A1 motorway. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, from cheap and cheerful pizzerie to a Michelin star restaurant – 'Le Colline Ciociare' only 10 minutes away in Acuto.
Golf details

Fiuggi golf course is one of the oldest in Italy, having been developed in 1928. It offers a magnificent 18-hole course (5884 meters, par 70) set at 621 meters above sea level in a wonderful natural park that dominates the countryside. The naturally undulating slopes and rich vegetation make the course highly engaging and extremely enjoyable. The course winds through lovely, natural scenery, spaced out greens and well kept fairways that offer the golfer a sensation of freedom, away from noise and the hustle and bustle of the city. At weekends, Fiuggi Golf Club hosts important international level competitions. The course has a practice area where beginners can take lessons from instructors - either individually or in small groups. Fiuggi Golf Club, managed by Fiuggiterme srl (Fiuggi Spa) has a Club House with a Bar-Restaurant where you can sample exquisite local dishes in a pleasant atmosphere. It has changing rooms, a bag deposit facility and a Pro-shop. The Club House is elevated in relation to the course which affords a panoramic view over it. There is ample parking adjacent to the access to the course and the swimming pool with sunbathing area (open in the summer). Green fees for visitors are 40 € (as at April 2005) Facilities: - Club House - Bar • Restaurant - Practice area - Pro-shop - Open air swimming pool • Tennis - Golf carts - Golf bags and carts for hire Fiuggi Golf Club Via Superstrada Anticolana 03015 Fiuggi Terme (FR) Tel 0775.515250 E-mail: golfclub@termefiuggi.it / fiuggigolfclub@libero.it The Golf Club is open from 8.30 a.m.to 7 p.m. (other than holidays). Guest comments:
Just to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed staying at your house in Italy. I personally loved it there as I thought the house had a great deal of character and the views surrounding the house were beautiful. I would just like to say that the neighbours were really helpful and friendly. I was really sad to leave. I would love to go back. We have just arrived home in Melbourne from a delightful week in Moretto. We all enjoyed our stay immensely. Our time was blissful, with beautiful weather and happy times. The house was absolutely gorgeous, and all I could say is, "don't change it too much!"
