A magnificent rural location where peace and tranquility reign
“Quinta dos Três Rios” dates back to the XIX century and the house has been totally restored by the Forestier-Walker family. The family made every effort to maintain the original characteristics of the ancient farmhouse and every original piece has, where possible, been restored: the pine floor, the gates, the pine shutters and even the door-handles. All guest accommodations have magnificent views over the Rio Pavia and its wonderful waterfalls, over the vineyard and the whole property. The vineyard was replanted by the Forestier-Walker family and covers an area of 1.9 hectares. All the guest suites have comfortable bedrooms, a sitting-room and bathroom. For your comfort and convenience, there are music, satellite TV, fridge, and tea & coffee making facilities. Internet access, ice machine and telephone are available by request.

Parada de Gonta
This is rural Portugal. Parada de Gonta sits between the Caramulo mountains and the Serra da Estrela mountain range. Within a 15-minute drive the enthralling old town of historic Viseu where museums, wineries and locally produced crafts are found. The markets in Tondela (Monday), Viseu (Tuesday) and in many of the surrounding small villages are always colourful and full of bargains. The university city of Coimbra with outstanding architecture and internationally renowned shops is only 45 minutes away. A stop off at Fatima on the way to Lisbon is a great day out and certainly recommended.

  • The “Rio Pavia” is designed for families or groups, with two bedrooms - a twin and a double - with an interconnecting bathroom. There is a good sized kitchen with a dining area and a large sitting room with a sofa-bed for two extra people, if required. "The Oaks suite" This suite has its own private entrance with wheelchair access and its own kitchen. The twin bedroom was converted from the old kitchen with the en-suite bathroom formed from the pantry. This has a large shower area and wide access lavatory. The sitting room with its balcony looks out over the terraces to the Rio Pavia and woodlands beyond. A sofa bed is available should it be required. The second bedroom is a double, and has its own fine bathroom with the original 3 meter pine shutters also with a balcony looking over the river below .

Vineyard visits We have many contacts with local wine producers and would be happy to help plan your itinerary. The visits can incorporate wine and in some cases local food tastings. There is a nominal charge for some of the visits

Gastromania We have many superb local restaurants serving traditional Portuguese foods. We can arrange a local village taxi service so you may also enjoy the fine local wines and leave your car at home with us. Should you wish to join us for dinner (cooked by our daughter Caroline - ex pastry chef at the Michelin starred Glasshouse at Kew), this can be booked in the morning Pre dinner drinks and canapes,3 course meal with local wines -quite a session!! All for 20 euro each
