Renovated Quinta in the mountains
This farmhouse (Quinta) was built more than one hundred years ago and completely renovated in the beginning of 2006. Modern comfort and insulation in combination with authentic details make it into a nice and cosy holiday home. There is an antique oven where the lady of the house baked her own bread, on the floor you will find the handmade terracotta tiles, which are still made in the village. Of course you can visit the small factory as well. Before you sit down at breakfast, you can pick some oranges in the garden for your fresh juice! There are orangetrees, tangerines, prunes, nespre (a kind of apricot) and grapes. In front and in the back of the house, is a terrace. Table, chairs and sunbeds are available. The farm is situated in the countryside near a little river. You can even swim there untill the month of June. A very typical portuguese restaurant nearby, will not disappoint you. Seated on the terrace, you enjoy a splendid view over the hills and the ocean. Even the spanish border is within sight.

The Typical and very Portuguese Moncarapacho with its beautiful church in the square are 5 km away. At close distance from the villa you will find everything you need for as well lazy as active holidays: the beach , golfcourses, the hills, Tavira and Faro. The airport is only 30 minutes by car!. Tavira A beautiful authentic fisherman’s town, situated alongside the Rio Gilão, with some unspoiled beaches in front of the coast. It is one the most charming cities in the Algarve, representing the typical ancient architecture of the previous ages. A visit to one of the 37 churches is recommended. Tavira is well known for the production of salt.There are plenty of bars and terraces to relax with a cool drink.

The Nature
Also for nature-lovers the Algarve is very attractive. Depending the season, you can enjoy the blossoming almond trees, experience the scent of the orange grooves in full bloom. Witness the harvest ritual of the olives and the carobs. Every season shows different flowering plants and wild flowers. Bird-lovers: please don’t forget your binoculars! This is the place to observe birds of prey (also outside of the bird sanctuary). Lots of storks build their nests right in the middle of towns and villages and observe us… Walks on the beach? Hiking in the hills? Everything is possible here, we even can provide a guide who will give you a detailed explanation on plants and wildlife. After relaxing a few days, you might want to stretch your legs and go sights seeing. In the information book in the villa you will find some nice suggestion for a day out. Fancy a game of golf, mountain biking, jet skiing, karting, a quad ride?

The beaches
Beaches Only a short drive away from your villa you will find some beautiful and quiet offshore beaches (sandbanks), which can be reached with small boats. Ria Formosa The beautiful Ria Formosa Natural Park of 18.000 hectares is primarily a lagoon system, which is protected by sandbanks. A huge variety of wetland birds can be seen in Park, as well as ducks, shorebirds, gulls, terns and the rare purple gallinule. Storks, herons and many other species can be observed in the Park.
