Fully refurbished in 2002, this cottage offers a high level of comfort to groups or families of 4. This cottage is now under new ownership by Heather and Peter Nissen whilst bookings can still be made through ourselves. Originally build about 200 years ago, this building was once the original farm house for Wester lix farm, now tastefully refurbished throughout. This has proven to be extremely popular with smaller groups, often couples, that are looking for spacious 'real home' accommodation. The ground floor consists of a double aspect lounge with open fire, a large dining room leading into a spacious kitchen plus a utility room with washing machine and freezer, and a downstairs wc. The Kitchen offers electric oven with gas hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and plenty of working space. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, an extremely spacious master double bedroom and a second bedroom offering twin beds. Finally a family bathroom all accessed from a feature hallway. Additio

Killin
Wester Lix is situated approx 2 miles to the west of Killin set in the Glen of Dochart within the Trossachs area of the Highlands. The area now forms part of Scotlands first Nation Park. Wester Lix itself is found at the far end of a half mile track that once made up part of an old "General Wade" military road. Access to the track is found directly off the A85 road some 500 yards to the south of the junction with the A827 to the village of Killin. The A85 runs from Perth to the west coast town of Oban A local landmark on the A85 some 500 yards away from the access track to Wester Lix is the Lix Toll Garage.

The accommodation at Wester Lix is normally available for a full week during the peak summer season from Saturday to Saturday, or for short breaks of 3 or more days as availability allows during the low seasons In addition part or full catering may be supplied along with an itinerary of activities with transport if required. The prices we publish represent the total cost for rental of each cottage for a full week, which assumes self catering and includes heating, bed linen and use of the grounds etc. The only additional charge is for electricity which is supplied by individual coin meters, a small cover charge for pets. Additional services such as catering and booking of local activities etc are quoted as required, or contact details can be forwarded for arrangements to be made directly by guests. We are able to offer a combination of properties together as a package for the larger groups that prefer seperate properties. To reserve a cottage we accept a verbal confirmation, or

Golf details
We have several golf courses in the vicinity. Killin Golf Course is the nearest being approx 3 miles from Wester Lix through the village of Killin. There are also golf courses at St Fillans which is near Lochearn . . . . turn left after going through Glen Ogle.There is a golf course at Comrie etc. Glen Eagles is the biggest and most famous golf course in our area - this is approx a half hours drive from us..

A little more about Wester Lix
Wester Lix was once a farm sitting in an area of open hillside. Over the years the buildings have been modified, refurbished and extended to provide extremely comfortable accommodation for couples, families and small groups.
We are situated just over 3 miles from the village of Killin, right in the center of the Dochart Forest. From the grounds one can access many local walks, some along former railway tracks one of which will take you into Killin itself, and others to local waterfalls or out onto open hillside. The local area forms part of The Loch Lommond and Trossachs National Park and is therefore protected from development.
At Wester Lix there is a strong affinity with animals, from the family pets, chickens and sheep, the bats nesting in the lofts, to the local wildlife such as the deer that live in the adjoining forest. We therefore welcome pets by arrangement but will insist on them being Vaccinated to protect our own and those of other guests.
Our aim is simple, to provide a true home from home, affordable quality accommodation in a peaceful and secluded setting to those seeking to appreciate this area of the Scottish Highlands. To achieve this we have decorated and equipped the cottages to a level that we would expect when looking for a relaxing break ourselves. The result is a compliment of comfort and usability suitable as a base to enjoy the great outdoors. We pride ourselves in welcoming many repeat visits from guests which for us is a testimony that we are doing something right.
The present owners Gill and Dave, purchased the old farm buildings and approx 9 acres of the surrounding land in summer of 1999. In the summer of 2006 2 of the properties were sold to Heather and Peter Nissen leaving Jonnas Cottage and the Farmhouse for holiday rental.
At Wester Lix we offer a range of short courses in photography for both beginners and advanced individuals or groups. Subjects vary from landscape to portraiture, studio to outdoor and also simple digital processing to Web site building. Tuition is offered in modules that can be tailored to the needs of individuals or groups. The location of Wester Lix is an ideal base for some of Scotlands most stunning landscapes and also a peacefull retreat for studio or pc based tuition. All tuition is supplied by myself being a qualified professional photographer and a member of the British Institute of Professional Photography. (BIPP) For all guests staying at Wester Lix we offer a complimentary introduction in any of the listed modules. Modules : Camera basics - from an introduction for the beginner up to advanced camera techniques. Studio Lighting - for portrait and still life studio work using either a professional photographic studio or portable lighting for location work
We can offer weekend or midweek breaks through the coming autumn and winter seasons. Arrival dates and times are as flexible as possible in order to accommodate specific needs. Short breaks are usually for 3 nights but if availability allows then an early or late arrival time, or even staying that extra day is possible. Also a group meal can be provided, supplied and served from a local catering company. Please call for further details and an idea of prices. Prices vary depending on times and availibility, please call.
